Students use the web-based information they find to complete the questions on the worksheet.
When students get to the "Design Your Own Temple" section of the worksheet, students should follow the directions and peruse the information and images they are directed to and learn more about Egyptian temple design.
Following their research, students, with a partner, should complete a sketch or model (physical or digital) of an Ancient Egyptian Style temple of their own design.
Students will present their designs to the teacher or a student role playing as an Egyptian Pharaoh to see if their designs are rejected or accepted.
Worksheets are collected by the teacher and graded for correctness.
The temple designs and presentations should be graded according to rubric that assesses both the quality of the work and presentation.
When doing novel studies, developing background knowledge of different themes and issues within the novel is essential. This lesson is one such example. For the novel The Golden Goblet, I developed the following lesson to help students develop an understanding of Ancient Egyptian religion and its practice so they could better understand the choices of the characters in the novel. This lesson utilizes web-based information that students use to answer questions and complete tasks.
